Maya Hawke - 'Sweet Tooth'

Following the release of her critically acclaimed debut album 'BLUSH', Maya Hawke returns with a stunning second album titled 'MOSS', set for release September 23rd via Mom+Pop Music.

Written by Maya, and in collaboration with Benjamin Lazar Davis, Christian Lee Hutson, and Will Graefe, 'MOSS' serves as Maya’s meditation on rebirth and acceptance. “This record is called 'MOSS' because I’ve been gathering a lot in the last few years,” Maya says of the album. “Sitting still and collecting a green blanket of memories and feelings. Making this record was me trying to get up and shake it off and look at all of it. It was the first step in untangling myself and really trying to look at the rock under the moss.”

The most recent single release, ‘Sweet Tooth’, was the last song written for 'MOSS'. Of the single, Maya shares: “when we finished the first recording session, I felt this eruption of joy and I knew this feeling had to be on the record.”

Accompanying the single is a sweet music video, directed by Celine Sutter. Set in a dentist’s office and on the beach in Los Angeles, the video takes the audience into a laughing gas-induced dream of a group of friends memorialising Maya. The concept for the video pivoted just days before the shoot to include Maya’s “sweet tooth” after she began experiencing wisdom tooth pain.

‘Sweet Tooth’ follows the album’s debut single and video, ‘Thérèse’, released in June. ‘Thérèse’ gives a captivating glimpse of the new record, with Maya saying about the single: “‘Thérèse’ is inspired by a painting but about feeling hemmed in and stuck. Stuck as the version of yourself that someone else created.”

Coming off two sold-out hometown shows at The Colony in Woodstock, NY, Maya has added a new headlining date in Los Angeles in addition to previously announced performances  - all of which are sold out.
