Verbs of Iron Bridge - 'Rebel’

  • 2 min read

When you look through the UK’s current rap scene, it doesn’t take long before the Essex crew of Iron Bridge come into focus. A duo that has become synonymous with poignant honest lyrics and unique rhymes, Dirty Verbals and Jibbarish first took the spotlight back in 2003 with the release of their epic twenty-track record ‘Toilet Humour’. A unique record that has endured to this day and risen to relative cult status, ‘Toilet Humour’ became the platform for the artists in more ways than one, opening the door for their solo careers and cementing them as fixtures of the underground.

The debut solo single from Verbs, and the first single from his upcoming album, ‘Rebel’ sees the talented wordsmith collaborating with Nottingham’s own Danny Wee, unleashing a torrent of ska-infused beats and intricate wordplay. Undeniably fun and wrapped in a dynamic riff that is built around some stunning brass, ‘Rebel’ has all the hallmarks of an underground classic, blending genre-shifting brilliance with light-hearted sounds and a true touch of magic. A stellar introduction to Verbs’ blossoming solo career, and to his new project, ‘Rebel’ is everything we’ve come to expect from the rapper and more.

With over twenty-five years experience in the music industry and under the Iron Bridge Records imprint, Verbs has proven his talents time and time again, and ‘Rebel’ is another chapter in an already massive legacy.

Along with the track, Verbs has also revealed an equally impressive music video that sees the rapper in perfect form, getting into trouble and launching headfirst into some kaleidoscopic visuals. Filmed around Pattaya City, Thailand with videography by William M. Vaughan and Kanokpon Fongtar of Saffron Asia Media, it’s a track that’s set to take on the world. Check it out below.

With his solo album, the aptly titled ‘Visionary’ due out in June, and a controversial new single ready to drop in the near future, 2021 is shaping up to be an absolutely massive year for Verbs. Tune into the new single above, and make sure you follow Verbs on Spotify and Instagram below, so you never miss a beat.
