Amakaa – ‘Jisike’

Precious Chiamaka Benjamin, better known by her stage name of Amakaa is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and humanitarian providing comfort through music to people. With a penchant for vibrant afro-pop sounds and tactile melodies that convey a bold emotive quality, Amakaa’s music has become a source of solace and strength for thousands of people, and today, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on one of her most life-affirming singles.

Titled ‘Jisike’, the single was first released during the closing days of 2021, but it has since grown to become one of this year’s most instantly recognisable and enjoyable tracks, offering a shining light that blends inspiration from Onyeka Onwenu, Christie Essie-Igbokwe, Yemi Alade and 90’s music icon Beyoncé, into one vibrant pop epic.

Shifting effortlessly between afro-beat and highlife sounds, the new single is a perfect example of Amakaa’s talents and goals, pushing a luscious sound that strives to entertain, elevate, and ensnare. Blending bold, melodic lines with Amakaa’s philosophical understanding of music, ‘Jisike’ creates a sound that “cleanses the understanding of man; inspires it and lifts it into a realm which it would not reach if it were left to itself.”

Available now on most major platforms, and as part of our official Spotify playlists, ‘Jisike’ continues to impress fans and critics alike, and to date, it’s earned over 12,000 streams on Spotify alone.

Along with the release of ‘Jisike’, Amakaa has also released a stunning follow-up single titled ‘Ogologo ndu’, which is available now.
