Dark Miles explores themes of liberation and defiance on his way to debut album '10 Miles Into the Dark'

A powerhouse of the Portuguese rock scene, Pete Miles has recently undergone something of a musical metamorphosis. Following his time spent dominating the underground scene as the frontman of MOSH, Pete has now turned his focus to more introspective territories, forging a new solo project through which he can lay bare the scars of past trauma and focus on the enduring struggle for self-liberation

Finding new freedom as Dark Miles, a solo project that channels his' struggles into an intensely personal musical journey, Pete has begun to carve out a powerful and evocative new path. Backed by two impressive singles in 'Your Heart Is An Empty Street' and the defiant 'When The Lights Go Out', Dark Miles dives into the darkness of the human soul, traversing our inner thoughts and hard-hitting truths on the way to its debut album.

The first of his two singles, 'Your Heart Is An Empty Street' is a song born from surviving physical and psychological abuse. Throughout, Miles' voice is raw with emotion, reflecting a life lived and the strength found in ending destructive patterns. It's a song that reflects the darkness within his soul and the constant fight to release himself from those ghosts of the past.

On the second single, 'When The Lights Go Out', Dark Miles delivers a defiant anthem, exploring themes of freedom and resilience. Inspired by the fragility of liberties lost during the pandemic, the song reminds us how quickly those freedoms can be threatened. It's a song that sees Dark Miles at his most thought-provoking, using his personal journey to illuminate universal struggles.

Drawing from a wider palette of influences, Dark Miles has created a sound that is more than just typical rock and roll. With 'Your Heart Is An Empty Street' and 'When The Lights Go Out', he has set a strong foundation for things to come, paying homage to the iconic sounds of the 80s and 90s. Echoes of Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and others shimmer through the music, lending it a depth and complexity that complements the emotional intensity of the lyrics.

The full album, titled '10 Miles Into the Dark' due out later this year, promises to be more than just an album. It's a map of an artist's soul, charting a path through pain towards self-discovery. Dark Miles is a testament to the transformative power of music, proving that even in the bleakest of times, creativity can be a beacon of hope.
