After hinting at the full scale of this project through singles like ‘Tangerine Dream Vision’ and ‘Dreaming’, Gala has now shared the complete collection, revealing an enchanting new EP that is intertwined perfectly with her art.
Titled ‘Blue by U’, her new EP is built from six enchanting tracks, each adding to an overall narrative of longing for transcendent love interwoven with the magical essence of union. Inspired by experiences of soul-searching, moving away, and discovering love, her music resonates with optimism and romance, reminiscent of classics like Roy Orbison's Blue Bayou’, where the EP takes its name, and Dolly Parton’s ‘Wildflowers’. From the first notes of the opening song ‘Marvelous’, a song that was initially composed and written during a shroom trip, Gala immerses the listening in a mixture of sound and colour, blending her psychedelic journey into a mesmerising composition featuring marching drums, mellotrons, and evocative guitar melodies.
Elsewhere on the EP, ‘Sleep in the Garden’ emerges as a psychedelic-tinged lullaby, offering solace to yearning souls, while ‘Blueberry Wine’ celebrates the timeless and quirky facets of unexpected love. Notably, ‘Blueberry Wine’ marks Gala's debut as a solo producer, highlighting her creative prowess beyond the realm of music.
Caught between these tracks, familiar favourites of ‘Tangerine Dream Vision’ and ‘Dreaming’ appear, with a captivating blend of traditional South American sounds and psychedelic bossa nova rhythms.
