Aussie indie-punk trio Haters have just released their new single, 'Last Night', a high-energy anthem about overcoming tough times and finding a new lease on life. The track is a raw and honest exploration of two contrasting experiences: being surrounded by toxic influences and finding true belonging with the right people.
Lead vocalist Jai Sparks explains, "I love this song because the first verse tells the story of a past life that is unhealthy and filled with relationships that were fairly toxic while the second dives straight into the complete opposite – all while centred around a day and a night out and the contrasting memory the different times have created."
Recorded in Ontario, Canada with Scott Middleton of Cancer Bats, 'Last Night' delivers a powerful punch reminiscent of bands like Japandroids, Press Club, and IDLES, but with Haters' own distinct lyrical style. The track's driving rhythm section, anchored by bassist Kaito and drummer Jimmy, creates a visceral soundscape that perfectly complements Jai's heartfelt vocals.
In addition to the new single, Haters have also announced their debut album, 'Non-Violent', due for release in March 2025. But there's a twist! The album will be available exclusively on vinyl starting November 22nd, months ahead of its full digital release. This special vinyl-only release gives die-hard fans an early and intimate way to experience the band's raw and powerful music.
'Non-Violent' will feature previously released singles 'Young Ones', 'Quit My Job', and 'wander//wonder', along with the newly released 'Last Night'. Haters will be launching the physical album with a series of in-store appearances throughout their home state of Queensland, along with two special launch shows in Brisbane and Melbourne. For fans who've been lucky enough to catch Haters live, this is a chance to take home a piece of the band that feels truly personal.
