Castle Rock-based band INTERCONTINEN7AL has just unveiled their latest album, 'Volume 5', and the track that truly shines is 'Apothecary'. Since 2020, this prolific band has delivered five full-length albums, each a testament to their commitment to musical exploration.
In perfect form, 'Apothecary' stands out with its captivating blend of 90salternative rock influences and a distinctly international flavour. The song opens with a laid-back groove reminiscent of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, with undulating guitars and a steady drumbeat setting the scene.
Kelly Wandless' vocals, dreamy and smooth, immediately draw the listener in. The jangly guitars create a delightful contrast with the otherworldly electronic sounds that emerge later in the track. A delicate string accompaniment graces the song's conclusion, leaving a lingering sense of intrigue and a desire to delve deeper into the band's unique sound.
As with many of the band's projects, 'Apothecary' shines with free, collaborative energy, featuring American musicians Matt Smith on guitars/synth and Alex Burke on bass, alongside UK-based vocalist Kelly Wandless.
A truly universal band, INTERCONTINEN7AL is the first and only music act in history to record and release four songs including original music recorded from all seven continents, including 'Manor Hill', 'Puerto Aisen', 'Night Shift', and now 'The Chamber'.
The band's latest album, 'Volume 5', boasts a diverse range of genres, from alternative and hard rock to metal, folk, jazz, and even bluegrass. It also features the instrumental track 'The Chamber', a haunting piece that includes percussion recorded in Antarctica, marking the fourth time the band has achieved the remarkable feat of recording music on all seven continents.
With proceeds from 'Volume 5' going to Doctors Without Borders, INTERCONTINEN7AL continues its tradition of using music to make a positive impact on the world. And with plans for 'Volume 6' already in motion, it's clear that this band's sonic journey is far from over.
