A multi-talented singer, songwriter, and artist living in the twin city of Minneapolis, Jarad Miles has been performing as a solo artist and with his band Ancient Waves for years now, cultivating a sharp, eclectic pop sound that is utterly unmistakable. As a solo performer, he’s been proving his talents throughout 2022 with a string of impressive singles, and now, he’s touting the release of his debut full-length record, the masterful ‘Standing Upon This Array’.
A collection of ten original releases that were developed and compiled during the onset of the pandemic, ‘Standing Upon This Array’ reflects “a panoramic view of a turbulent twelve-year relationship”. Wonderfully emotive and built from the heart, it’s an album that is wistfully introspective, offering a brave and often vulnerable lyrical perspective through love, loss, yearning, and ultimately, peace.
Set for release on June 7th this year, the album has already been gaining notice for its lead singles ‘Something Beautiful’, ‘Apples N Pears’, and the spirited, folk-infused title track, setting a high standard that all other artists will be looking to meet. A starry cross between alt-pop and lingering indie-folk, the album is a warm and wonderfully vibrant creative space, offering a heart-warming blend of ambient, quirky, and always odd pop sounds that will have you enraptured.
Speaking about the album, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Kyleen King who contributed backing vocals to three tracks on the new album remarked, “’Standing Upon This Array’ is motif mastery and textural titillation. It is golden joy. It's what I want to listen to as I drive down an empty highway at the dawn of summer - windows down, speakers cranked, sun on my face.”
