Jordi Forniés – ‘Night Watcher’

A Spanish musician, composer, and visual artist currently based in the bustling heart of Singapore, Jordi Forniés has emerged as one of the classical music scene’s most innovative and ensnaring new talents. With a style characterised by a continuum between tender overarching refrains and defined sequences with increasing momentum, Jordi’s work is deeply contemplative and infinitely expansive, drawing on sharp neoclassical sounds, emotive ambient tones, and delicate electronic music. Easily one of the most captivating talents of the modern age, we’re proud to present his latest work, the seminal ‘Night Watcher’.

A classically trained pianist educated at Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Vila-seca in Spain, Jordi returned to studying music in 2017, gaining an MFA in Music Composition and Orchestration at Chichester University in the UK, and eventually becoming a member of the Composers Society of Singapore. Within the realm of music, Jordi has often collaborated with others to create his expressive sounds, including photographer and filmmaker Han Sungpil, for which Jordi created a piano and string quartet score, and the great Bouvaque, Jordi has also composed for films, including Caroline Fink's epic documentary about the receding of the largest glacier in Switzerland, ‘Aletsch: Of Ice and Men’, and made music for documentaries and video installations of Gitta Gsell.

Armed with a natural talent in composing for piano, strings, and small ensembles, Jordi has constantly worked to refine his unique style, working with studio recordings alongside electronic elements to create a bold, increasingly intricate tapestry of sounds, styles, and creative yearnings. A perfect illustration of his sound, ‘Night Watcher’ comes straight from the heart, capturing the delicacy of classical piano, and seamlessly blending it with a beautiful modern soundscape that only Jordi could envision.

Proof of just how gorgeous and evocative music can be, ‘Night Watcher’ is available now on all major platforms such as Tidal, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, or you can tune in below via Spotify.

Along with the release of ‘Night Watcher’, Jordi is also proudly championing two other stunning singles, ‘The Music Painter’ and ‘A Forest of Devotion’, which were released earlier this year. Along with these singles, Jordi’s first album, ‘Loudly Quiet’, is set to be released later this year, as well as his forthcoming solo exhibition under the same name. Speaking candidly, Jordi explained that his new album is “a hopeful and poignant collection of compositions for piano and strings, focusing on an individual story.”
