A producer, singer, and songwriter with a unique talent for sharp, passionate lyrics and vibrant pop melodies, Dane Blake has become one of this year’s most promising independent talents. With a penchant for arranged words and blending genres, Dane has been experimenting with different sounds and styles since he was sixteen, developing an expressive sense of style in his songwriter.
Combining Caribbean influences with a range of modern, mainstream sounds, Dane’s style was shaped by his upbringing in the United States, obtaining a wider perspective for music and broadening his musical influences. His first major release came in 2006 with International Recording Artists, a collaborative release that saw him working with Vybz Kartel, Beenie Man, and Elephant, to name just a few.
His sophomore release, and the first showcase his new musical direction, ‘THE C.R.Y (Comfort Reaching Yonder)’ tackles life in its infinite emotional scale, touching upon love, struggle, self-doubt and more. A comforting six-track release, the EP comes to life with singles like ‘Save Me’, a universal song about issues we all come to face, ‘Rain’, an enduring romantic release that features vocals by Ryan Byfield, and ‘Be True’, a cosy, heartfelt release that ties the whole release together. Arguably the most poignant and powerful of all the songs, closing number ‘Hope I See You’ is touching tribute to Dane’s Father who passed away due to complications with COVID-19.
A truly wonderful release that will undoubtedly bring solace to everyone who tunes in, ‘THE C.R.Y (Comfort Reaching Yonder)’ is a true and touching illustration of Dane’s talents. You can stream the full EP above via Spotify and catch lead single ‘Be True’ on our Spotify playlists here.
