Dan Miraldi – ‘Kingdom Come’

Cleveland-born and New York-based, Dan Miraldi is a singer and songwriter caught between two distinct music scenes. After releasing four full-lengths and five EPs, Dan has refined his retro, power-pop sound to a fine point, pushing boundaries and recreating traditional genres to find something new. Starting 2020 with a bang, Dan is set to release a brand-new EP titled ‘Mood Music For Introverts’, and we’re thrilled to premiere one of the EP’s seminal new tracks.

After years of songwriting, recording and DIY van tours, Dan Miraldi has become a musical journeyman who can already look back on an adventure-filled career. He has shared show bills and stages with an eclectic bunch of performers such as J. Roddy Walston & The Business, Nelly, Wiz Khalifa, The Wailers, Wild Feathers, James McCartney, Family of the Year, Fiery Furnaces, and even Wang Chung, and he’s only getting started.

“I Iove making music and performing. It’s something I need to do and I don’t know how to stop. I keep pressing on and hope that the best is still to come” Dan said.

Working alone on the new EP, Miraldi wrote, played and sang every note on ‘Mood Music For Introverts’, with the sole exception of an impressive slide-guitar cameo by Jay Nemeyer (of the DC-based electro pop band Color Palette) on the EP’s first single, ‘Kingdom Come’.

About the track and new EP, Miraldi said, “There is a lot of overproduction in modern music. The songs are about vibe, not perfection. I wanted this collection to sound warm and organic. There is no Auto-Tune on these tracks. This project began as something just for me. This is the music I make when no one else is looking. However, my friends who heard these songs encouraged me to release them. It is both exciting and scary, because there was no outside producer or mixing engineer to provide ‘adult supervision.’”

While best known for his power-pop and retro rock-inspired works like ‘Record Collection’ and ‘Woke Up Naked’, ‘Mood Music For Introverts’ showcases a different side of Miraldi. The beautifully sombre stripped-down collection was produced, mixed and recorded in his Greenwich Village apartment.

“We live in mentally-exhausting times, I wanted to make something that slowed things down. In some sense, these songs are reacting against that feeling of overstimulation. My last album (2018’s Alphabet City 2 AM) was a wild night out on the town. Mood Music For Introverts is a quiet night in with maybe a few friends, or maybe it’s just you. It’s music for a chill evening with a glass of whiskey or some red wine.”

‘Mood Music For Introverts’ arrives digitally March 6 and will also have a limited-edition cassette release. You can stream lead single ‘Kingdom Come’ in full above.
