A talented twenty-one-year-old singer and songwriter, Sam Olyott has recently shared his debut single ‘Cold Toast’, and it’s absolutely fantastic. A blossoming anthem that represents an impactful introduction from the Liverpool artist, it’s streaming now on all major platforms.
A debut single like few others, ‘Cold Toast’ showcases a soulful singer-songwriter with all the talents required to establish a status as one to watch. Written alongside Mark Vallance and Teddy Gristle, who also produced the track, the single is a break-up song with a difference, one where Sam captures every small detail to show just how his life has changed.
As Total Entertainment shared, “While ‘Cold Toast’ is undoubtedly a break-up song, Sam has crafted it in a way which uses the small details of how his life has changed as a more personal representation of those overwhelming emotions. The production perfectly suits his confessional style too, deploying little more than the warmth of live guitar, bass and percussion.”
Speaking openly about the track, Sam added, “I really enjoyed writing ‘Cold Toast’. I think it’s one of the best songs I’ve written so I hope you like it.”
Sam first started busking in Liverpool city centre when he was just fourteen years old, where he would head into town with his father to claim the best busking spot at 6 am. Six years later, Sam is still often performing for passers-by on Church Street, giving impromptu performances and drawing a crowd.
All along, Sam’s goal was to write and release his own original music - and that’s a dream he is starting to realise with ‘Cold Toast’. When he’s not singing or writing songs, Sam also enjoys football, and he is about to complete his undergraduate degree in Business Management and Marketing – something that will come in handy whilst he releases his debut EP independently.
