An independent music producer and songwriter, Sara Fuga, better known by her moniker of SistaSara, is a talented queer artist focused on self-discovery. A wonderfully original artist, Sara has never failed to entertain fans and critics alike, and with her new single ‘Next Round’, she’s set a bold standard that few artists will be able to follow.
Born and raised in Venice, Italy, with Italian and Nigerian ancestries, Sara first found her feet in the music industry as a session drummer and backing vocalist, performing in numerous bands and projects across Italy from 1995 and until 2003. After moving to London in the spring of 2003, Sara found herself swept away in The London Dub scene. It was a defining moment for Sara, and to this day, it continuesto colour and inspire her musical journey.
It’s from this passion that Sara’s latest single is cut, stitching together shimmering electronic sounds with a message of endurance, perseverance, and hope. Through the medley of vibrant dub sounds, ‘Next Round’ delivers a brilliant message, that no matter how insurmountable our obstacles might seem, we can always overcome them. Speaking more about the new single on her Instagram page, Sara shared, “I recorded it exactly a year ago, and it means so much to me as it is a song about resilience. A song about overcoming obstacles and a reminder that there's always a new chapter awaiting us just around the corner.”
She continues, “We all go through tough times and it is important to voice our feelings and emotions, and it can be hard to remember that such times are temporary. Everything is. We have a voice inside to remind us that change and movement are natural ingredients in this life.”
Currently living in Oakland, California, where she moved in the summer of 2015, Sara continues to create and innovate through her music, both as a solo artist and with others. Alongside her solo career, she collaborates with other fellow producers as a songwriter and vocalist, and as of 2019, she has been featuring other artists in her productions.
