An exciting new band from the bustling heart of Los Angeles, CA, The Art Monks have recently released their debut, self-titled album, sharing nine original songs inspired by a brilliant array of artists.
Formed by prolific producer and multi-instrumentalist AndyK alongside singer and keyboard player Steven Jackson, The Art Monks combines over a decade of friendship and creative energy with a fresh blend of R&B, soul, funk, and pop. An album that has been years in the making, ‘The Art Monks’ is a perfect showcase of the band’s unique sound, delivering a raucous rally of soulful sounds that has been inspired by artists like Parliament/Funkadelic, D'Angelo, and Prince.
Capitalising on standout anthems like opening number ‘Our Love Won’t Stop’, the joyous ‘I Like My Music Funky’, and ‘Lover Man’, the album is a vibrant blend of both AndyK and Steven’s style. At its core, the album captures a special sound, one that is both emotionally stimulating, while also sonically engaging. In their press release for the album, the band shared that they were on a mission to unite people and bring joy to the world through their music, and on the album, that urge fills every note, chorus, and bar.
Available now on Spotify, ‘The Art Monks’ is an album of kaleidoscopic soul and glistening pop sounds, and the band should be eternally proud of it.
To date, AndyK has worked with artists such as Grafezzy, Antonia Marquee, Tyler Griffin, Lakewood, MC Progress, and SWAK. He is best known for his eclectic style and his ability to blend different genres together, which works perfectly on the album. Steven Jackson meanwhile, is a soulful singer and keyboard player from New Orleans. Armed with a powerful voice that is reminiscent of Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, he brings a brilliant slice of old-funk charm to every song.
