The Window View - 'Sunset Paradise'

Exciting Cumbria-based four-pieceThe Window View brought 2022 to a crashing close with their blistering, Knebworth-inspired debut single ‘Sunset Paradise’.

The track was inspired by frontman Evan Barlow’s trip to Knebworth to seeLiam Gallagher as Barlow explains: “As I watched the sunset over Knebworth, the feeling I got was a feeling I’d never had before. I felt invincible. Ready to take on anything.”

It wasn’t until Evan met up with legendary producerDave McKracken in their mutual hometown that the lyrics started to take shape. McKracken doled out phrases that fit what Evan was looking for and pretty soon the lyrics to The Window View’s debut single came to fruition.

‘Sunset Paradise’ is the incredible debut single from one of the UK’s most promising new bands. Singer Evan Barlow also says of the track: “When The Window View formed, my personal goal was to have a song written, recorded, and to be available on streaming platforms by the time 2022 came to an end. This song isn’t just The Window Views song, It’s yours too.

Recorded at The Music Farm in Egroment, Cumbria, ‘Sunset Paradise’ was produced byTom Tyson. The track is airy and certainly catches the vibe that the band were looking for. The vocal is almost glam rock; there are shades of Marc Bolan in Evan Barlow’s delivery. The song as a whole is contemporary shoegaze that draws upon the classic sounds ofThe Verve and Ride and the more recent Pastel.

The Window View formed almost exactly one year ago when drummer Thomas approached Evan in a pub and suggested they start a band. Two new additions followed (Jake, bass) and Alfie (lead guitar) and the band started practicing in earnest. Gigs followed including a triumphant gig in Manchester which saw a coach-load of supporters from Cumbria make the journey. With more releases and gigs to come in 2023, ‘Sunset Paradise’ heralds the start of a promising career for The Window View.
