An experimental electronic artist, Voyager has spent the last three years making music, channelling kaleidoscopic beats and 8 Bit sounds into a diverse stream of singles, albums, and immersive aural experiences. Today, Voyager has shared an impressive new single that acts as a bold introduction to his upcoming album, a collection of songs built from an unexpected loss.
At just nineteen years of age, Barcelona-based Voyager hit his stride in music last year with the release of 'whether', his incredible underrated debut album. A seven track release that shone with impressive DIY aesthetic, 'whether' set a standard for Voyager's music that has gotten better with every subsequent release. It's almost exactly a year later that Voyager has shared his new single, and with it, news of a hastily assembled new album.
Titled 'green fields', the new single is a playful 8 Bit adventure, delivering a finely tuned electronic track that dives head first into some classic video game vibes. Speaking about the single, Voyager added, "this track I composed on a sunny Sunday morning with the sun in my face in a really peaceful setting and I think the song represents just that." A warm, melodic track that is filled with vibrancy and fun, 'green fields' is a brilliant first glimpse into Voyager's upcoming album.
The journey to releasing the single, and building the album as a whole wasn't an easy one, as Voyager explained, "I'm currently in the midst of releasing an album on short notice because about a month ago my laptop was stolen with all my projects, music and progress on it, this track along with the rest of the album, are the sound files that I happened to have on my phone."
Inspired by artists like Aphex Twin, Daft Punk, Björk, JPEGMAFIA, Death Grips, C418 and Vegyn, Voyager has carved out an impressive niche within the industry, and the release of 'green fields' sees them adding another chapter to a growing legacy. The new single is the first to come from Voyager's upcoming album 'Lost Files', which will be released on the 1st of September this year.
It's set to be a big year for Voyager as an artist, with the blossoming artist looking to take things to a whole new level, saying, "I've been making music for the last three years but this is probably the year where I've taken it the most seriously, it's one of those things that just feels ‘right’ and I can't avoid it so I must dive into it.”
