A Swift Farewell Breaks the Silence with New Single and Bassist

Eora/Sydney's own emo pop-punk quartet, A Swift Farewell, are back with a vengeance, unleashing their angsty new single, ‘Silence’. This release also heralds the arrival of Gabrielle Michael on bass, injecting fresh energy into their already potent sound. ‘Silence’ marks the band's first offering of the year, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting chapter.

The track, produced and mixed by Nat Sherwood, with drum engineering by Chris Blancato and mastering by Grant Berry, captures the raw emotion A Swift Farewell are known for. ‘Silence’ signals a new musical direction for the band. It opens with a subdued yet brooding guitar riff and electronic drum loops, drawing the listener into its world. The pre-chorus builds tension, showcasing vocalist Ryo's layered harmonies against a backdrop of minimal instrumentation. The chorus explodes with angst and energy, leading into a dynamic second verse, a blistering guitar solo, and an outro that provides resolution without resorting to a final chorus.

The song explores the frustration of a one-sided relationship, where one person is so absorbed in their own life that they are completely oblivious to the needs and struggles of their partner. They rely on you for support, blind to the fact that you might be dealing with your own battles. The lyrics, "Silence, there's nothing like silence," express the longing for peace, the unspoken desire to tell the other person to stop talking about their problems for a while.

Gabrielle Michael is thrilled to join A Swift Farewell, stating, “I’m beyond excited to be teaming up with my very best friends in A Swift Farewell. It feels like a long time coming after filling in on bass for them on tour. Nothing feels better than sharing the stage with people who you not only love, but know that they share the same deep passion for the art you create together.”

To celebrate the release of ‘Silence’, A Swift Farewell will be hitting the stage at The Lansdowne on February 15, supporting UK pop-punkers As December Fall. They will also headline Good Intent's After Dark event at The Lansdowne on February 28.

A Swift Farewell have shared the stage with a host of big names, both Australian and international, and are renowned for their high-octane live performances. Their previous work has garnered support from various platforms, and they’ve received online recognition from numerous publications. With ‘Silence’ and Gabrielle Michael now in the mix, A Swift Farewell are poised to make a significant impact on the music scene.
