Sydney's rising star jnr. has dropped a pulsating new dance-pop anthem, '2CLOSE', following the hypnotic '4DAYS/4NIGHTS'. The track showcases jnr.'s command of floor-filling pop, drawing inspiration from Troye Sivan, Artemas, and UK garage pop.
"I wanted to write an uplifting song with no melancholic undertones, just to prove that I could," says jnr. "This is that song, and it's one of my best because the process was so effortless and fun."
The song's theatrical music video, directed by Zoë Dubuc, captures a sci-fi love story with high-energy choreography. jnr., along with a troupe of dancers, solidifies his status as a quadruple threat: singer, songwriter, producer, and dancer.
This release marks the final single in a trio, alongside '4DAYS/4NIGHTS' and 'unfair', highlighting jnr.'s artistic complexity before embarking on his debut album in France later this year. All three tracks have received support from triple j and Apple Music.
jnr.'s fearless approach to sonic innovation has carved his path in the alt-pop landscape. Comparisons to The 1975, LANY, and Chase Atlantic speak to his genre-hopping fluidity. In 2023 alone, he's released seven singles, multiple features and remixes, and shared the stage with notable acts like Last Dinosaurs and Chloe Dadd.
With an electric live show and a consistent sonic and visual aesthetic, jnr. is undoubtedly an artist to watch.
