In this exclusive interview, Jaymen opened up about his musical journey, exploring his inspirations, songwriting process, and what the future holds.

It's great to have this time to speak with you, Jaymen. Let’s take things right back to begin with. When did you first start making music?

“I started making music about three years ago.”

You have a new single due out in just under a week, can you tell us a bit about the release and what it means to you?

“So, my latest project is called ‘Trap House’. It’s about a time when I lived in a trap house. It’s about the daily routine and the somewhat outlaw nature of it all. What’s cool about it I take talking points from rap and make it into more of an acoustic jingle.”

Were there any artists, moments, or experiences that influenced you when writing the project?

“Just waking up every day and every day being some type of adventure in a way, at the time it was fun but looking back at it now it was dangerous.”

What was your songwriting process? How did it all come together?

“The process is pretty much four lines at a time usually just comes to me sometimes two songs become one, it depends I guess.”

What’s the most important thing when you’re writing a song?

“The most important thing to me when writing a song, is not being generic and keeping it tasteful, but also its instrumentals gotta go good with it or it won’t be a good song. Also, the moment build-up is the biggest thing to.”

How would you describe the sound on your latest release? Has there been a change or evolution in style since you first began?

“Yeah, say my newest one has a much more alternative rock sound it’s much more like the music. I listen to that’s why I like it so much.”

Was there a central message or theme you were trying to convey in the new single?

“I guess if you know what I’m talking about then you just know. That’s why I like it.”

What advice would you give to bands and artists who are just starting out and trying to find their sound?

“Just make what you want. Don’t worry about what people think about it or say, eventually, you’ll start making the songs you want, and realise your own sound starting to come through.”

What has been your best moment as a musician or band so far?

“Just seeing the support I get now. To think, when I started no one even knew who I was or nothing, and something that I built, actually like it’s crazy. I can’t get enough of it.”

Is there anything you would like to say to our audience before you go?

“Thanks for listening. I appreciate it if you follow my social media - I’ll keep you guys updated on the music, thank you.”
