Bel Kil Releases Her Playful Yet Introspective New Anthem 'Kinda Funny'

Bel Kil, the Northern Grampians-raised singer-songwriter and producer, has returned with her latest offering, 'Kinda Funny'. The track is a vibrant and introspective anthem that was born from the contrasting reactions Bel received after deciding to pursue her passion for music full-time.

With its infectious beats and thought-provoking lyrics, 'Kinda Funny' perfectly encapsulates Bel Kil's signature blend of fun and depth. The chorus, "You look at me and think girl your crazy dreams are kinda funny / I look at you and think boy there’s more to life than chasing money," highlights the song's central theme of following one's heart, even in the face of scepticism.

Bel explains the inspiration behind the song, “I think it was a reaction to observing people's sceptical 'oh's' and genuine 'oh wows!' when I told them I had quit my job to follow my dreams of producing music.

'Kinda Funny' is a vibrant tapestry of sound, weaving together elements of indie pop, electronica, and folk. The song features shimmering synths, driving percussion, and Bel's captivating vocals. The lyrics are both playful and poignant, exploring themes of self-discovery, perseverance, and the pursuit of dreams.

The track was mastered by Joe Carra of Crystal Mastering, a Grammy-nominated engineer known for his work with artists such as Pond, The Teskey Brothers, and King Gizzard.

Raised on a farm, Bel was immersed in a family environment where music played a significant role. Her curious nature led to a childhood filled with building, creating, and playing guitar. Bel's eclectic musical style draws from diverse genres, eras, and influences, all while maintaining a contemporary pop sensibility, as noted by Alex Callan of Forte Mag. This November, Bel's passion for music and community will culminate in her curating her own festival in the rural Victorian town of Ararat.

'Kinda Funny' is a testament to Bel Kil's artistic vision and her unwavering commitment to following her own path. With its infectious energy and empowering message, the song is sure to resonate with listeners who have ever dared to chase their dreams.
