Imogen Clark's 'The Art of Getting Through' Is A Journey Through Resilience and Healing

AIR award-nominated singer-songwriter Imogen Clark has unleashed her deeply personal and cathartic new album, 'The Art Of Getting Through'. Recorded across the legendary studios of Abbey Road, Peter Frampton’s Studio Phenix, and East West, the album is a testament to Clark's growth as a songwriter and her unwavering determination to overcome life's challenges.

"These songs are about the messiness of life, the layers of injury and hurt that build resilience and how you never really get a clean slate or a fresh start," Clark shares. "There is no starting over, there is only getting through."

The album's creation began in May 2023 and culminated in a whirlwind year, marked by the release of the fiery anthem 'If I Want In' in October 2023. The track, featuring members of Gang of Youths and Camp Cope's Georgia Maq, garnered rave reviews, with Beats Per Minute praising it as "textbook-perfect" and highlighting a particularly poignant lyric: "Everyone I know is either married or in rehab, I couldn’t say which one is worse."

Throughout 2024, Clark has toured relentlessly, offering fans a taste of her new music. Songs like the cathartic 'All Hard Feelings', the love anthem 'Big One', and the defiant 'The Noise', accompanied by a gender-flipped homage to Bruce Springsteen's iconic 'Dancing in the Dark' video, have resonated deeply with audiences.

'The Art Of Getting Through' delves into Clark's most personal struggles, including battles with eating disorders ('Silhouette'), the justified paranoia of women's interactions with men ('Natural Predator'), and the yearning to be understood by a lover like she is by her friends ('Like A Man'). The album's emotional centerpiece, 'The Last of Me', confronts the darkest moment of her life, where she found herself on the brink of despair during the pandemic.

Yet, from the depths of darkness, Clark emerges with newfound strength. The title track, currently climbing the AAA Top 100 in the US, and the closing song 'If Your Heart Never Breaks', co-written with Jim Lauderdale and featuring a stunning string arrangement by Bright Eyes' Nate Walcott, offer a message of hope and perseverance.

With a string of sold-out shows in Nashville and Los Angeles, Imogen Clark stands as a beacon of resilience and artistic triumph. As she establishes herself in a new city and shares 'The Art Of Getting Through' with the world, it's clear that this is just the beginning of an extraordinary journey.
