Northern Captives Deliver A Triumphant Debut of Alt-Rock Honesty in 'DIZZY'

Lincoln's Northern Captives have offered a beacon of hope and creative catharsis with the release of their debut album 'DIZZY'. A seminal slice of alt-rock, the new album delivers ten tracks that tackle modern anxieties and the relentless pursuit of happiness with a stark DIY spirit and plenty of raw vulnerability.

Singles like the anthemic 'Anxiety Dreams' and the aptly-named 'Distraction or Cure' showcase a band unafraid to explore both the highs and lows of their emotional landscape. They're standout singles in a sea of impressive cuts, but by far, one of the most impactful moments comes with 'Living In-Between', a track that hits hard with a deft fusion of indie rock, pop and emo.

Speaking on the album's themes, Cook explains, "Lyrically, 'DIZZY'... aimed to put positive and supportive spins on situations that can often feel increasingly overwhelming for creative people surviving today's climate."

The title track, 'Dizzy', emerges as a fitting finale. With its uplifting chorus, it's a call to embrace creativity as a means of escaping the pressures of daily life: "Nail down the colours that you wave around - let them surround you. Inhale now the air that gets you dizzy."

To date, Northern Captives expansive alternative rock sound has seen the band grow into an exciting presence in the UK boasting a nuanced and captivating style that sees them shifting through genres and boldly exploring new territories.

Their debut record is fitting and undeniably compelling statement from the band. It shows they have honed their craft through tireless work and a commitment to authenticity, and now, they're reaping the rewards.
