Guess Method's ‘Retrosight’ Is A Groovy, Multi-Dimensional Ride Worth Taking

Guess Method, the New England-based indie-funk band, has been making waves since their formation in 2018. With their infectious melodies and tight rhythm section, they've become known for their energetic live performances and unique blend of funk, indie rock, and jazz. Now, they've released their debut EP, ‘Retrosight’, and it's a captivating showcase of their musical talents.

The six-track, 27-minute record is a testament to the band's ability to craft compelling narratives and dynamic soundscapes. From the energetic anthem ‘The Disconnect’, inspired by real-life events, to the tender exploration of an unexpected romance in ‘The River (Gotta Be)’, each song takes the listener on a journey of introspection, connection, and movement.

Guess Method's influences are diverse, but their sound is distinctly their own. They seamlessly blend genres, creating a musical tapestry that is both familiar and fresh. The band's tight-knit chemistry is evident throughout the EP, with each member contributing to the overall sonic landscape.

‘Retrosight’ is not just a collection of catchy tunes; it's a testament to the band's growth and evolution. As bassist Matthew Fuller puts it, "It's all about recognising something special that's been hiding in plain sight and stepping into it, even if it's unexpected." The EP captures the energy of their live shows while also showcasing their maturity as songwriters and musicians.

The band's decision to record ‘Retrosight’ at Ghost Hit Recording in West Springfield, Massachusetts, reflects their desire to expand their network and reach a wider audience. Guitarist Miles Duhamel adds, "The vision behind our EP was honestly to just make sure we put out music that we're proud of. These songs had an opportunity to live and change form to our tastes before we went to the studio with them, and I'm really happy with how they came out."

‘Retrosight’ is an unconventional record in terms of track sequence, but its structure and arrangements are expansive and multi-dimensional. The band's willingness to experiment and push boundaries is evident throughout the EP, making for a truly engaging listening experience.

If you're looking for music that is both entertaining and thought-provoking, look no further than Guess Method's ‘Retrosight’. This is an EP that will stay with you long after the final notes fade away.
