Persistent Mimes, a seemingly brand-new band out of Ohio, have just released their latest single, ‘Here We Are Here We Stand’, taking a bold step with some gorgeous nostalgic sounds. Decades in the making, the story behind this vibrant track stretches back much further than you might imagine – all the way to 1994, in fact.
Back then, vocalist Dylann DeAnna and guitarist Ron Paulchel were busy writing music together in Southern California. The creative duo amassed a collection of nearly 50 songs over four years, but life had other plans. Before they knew it, geographical distance and the demands of life led to the project being shelved, seemingly lost.
Fast forward to 2021, when a fateful rediscovery breathed new life into the music. One of the band members stumbled upon a box of old cassettes labelled ‘Persistent Mimes’, containing rough recordings captured on a simple tape recorder. The duo were surprised by the quality and energy of the songs, and a decision was made to finally record an album's worth of this forgotten material.
Of course, the pandemic threw a spanner in the works, causing delays and pushing the album completion back to March of this year. But now, Persistent Mimes are finally ready to share their music with the world.
