Pop Wallace – ‘Noises Made Figuring Things Out’

An impressive new force in music, Carlow born, Phoenix-based singer-songwriter Pop Wallace co-founded Poxy Records in 2020, along with hip-hop producer Willhouse and songwriter/producer Lenny Melon. Just a few short months later, his debut single ‘Link Up’ was released, and was popular enough to warrant a successful crowdfund for an entire full-length album, ‘Good Boy’, whose limited-edition vinyl record became Poxy Records’ first physical release in less than half a year of its existence.

Since then, Pop Wallace has gone from strength to strength, receiving airplay on a variety of stations and shows, while also being featured by outlets including Nialler9, Goldenplec, and Pop On Down. Influenced by the like of Massive Attack, Joji, Frank Ocean, Brockhampton, D’Angelo, Kelis, Justin Timberlake, UNKLE, Blue Hawaii, Craig David, DIIV and Kean Kavanagh, Pop Wallace’s music is an artful blend of electronic, trip-hop, emotionally-charged pop and contemporary R&B, most often with a dash of dark wit.

As part of Poxy Records' intelligent approach to crafting top-tier Irish R&B, electronic and hip-hop, Pop Wallace has already proved that he’s a force to be reckoned with, and today, he’s doubled down with the release of his new, six-track EP, ‘Noises Made Figuring Things Out’.

An instrumental EP that came around as he was experimenting with various different sounds in his production, ‘Noises Made Figuring Things Out’ is just what it says on the tin, delivering a string of eclectic and wonderfully produced sounds that came into existence through sheer experimentation. A uniquely evocative experience, there is plenty of heavy, emotive sounds beneath the free-flowing energy, with the songs pieced together during a year of soul searching and personal growth.

A gorgeous mix that refuses to be pigeonholed, the new EP is a masterclass in blending modern more mainstream styles like pop and R&B with flourishes of electronic music, trip-hop, house and drum and bass styles.
