Lili-Violet’s Latest Single Is A Raw Dive into Queer Relationships and Personal Evolution

Just a few days ago, Melbourne-based artist Lili-Violet dropped her latest single, 'Blue', following a whirlwind of performances alongside notable acts like The Rubens and appearances at SummerWave Festival in Kerang. This release marks her third and final single before the unveiling of her debut EP, 'Dear Lilith', in July 2024.

Teaming up with Jarred Young of Bad Pony and ChompChomp Records for co-writing and production, 'Dear Lilith' promises to be a heartfelt tribute to the songwriter’s journey, tackling themes of childhood trauma, mental health struggles, and the quest for self-identity.

Timed with International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), 'Blue' offers a candid exploration of the complexities within queer relationships. Through poignant lyricism, Lili-Violet delves into the intensity of such connections, shedding light on toxic dynamics like love bombing, ghosting, and gaslighting. The track also serves as a mirror to the artist’s own journey of grappling with internalized biphobia and reclaiming her sexuality amidst vulnerability.

In her own words, Lili-Violet describes 'Blue' as a song that ignites excitement, both in anticipation of live performances and the accompanying music video. Reflecting on her past experiences, she shares, “I felt so broken down after some of the relationships I had over the past few years. Some of the issues were my fault, don’t get me wrong, but I also found a pattern in the people I was dating, and I was tired of letting people hurt me and impact my self-worth.”

Despite its somber undertones, 'Blue' serves as a defiant anthem, bidding farewell to past lovers who contributed to the artist’s growth while simultaneously acknowledging their shortcomings. With its powerful melodies and honest storytelling, the song resonates with listeners embarking on their own journey of self-discovery and healing.

As Lili-Violet continues to carve her path in the music scene, 'Blue' stands as a testament to her authenticity and resilience, inviting audiences to embrace vulnerability as a catalyst for personal evolution.
